Building Resilience Camps

Face to face

Summary information

Swn y Coed is a permaculture small holding near Whitland, Carmarthenshire. It is part of a One Planet Development. Peni Ediker has developed a thriving market garden using regenerative agriculture approach. There is a bespoke turf roofed roundhouse above the orchard which is used for greenwoodwork and mindfulness sessions. The level grass area is used for camping and workshops. There is freshly grown produce for the camps.

The camp is an opportunity to spend time with others in a natural setting whilst getting hands-on experience in growing your own food. We will be covering inoculated compost making, soil and gut health, green woodworking and nature connection. You will go home feeling empowered to grow your own food, from a window box to a large garden.

Delicious vegetarian meals are included in the price with much of the fresh produce grown on the plot.

Both Peni Ediker and Melissa Holloway, who are co-leading the camp have extensive experience growing food, and holding space for young people. Our camps last year were a great success with the participants learning both new skills and creating new friendships.
We have a specialised team coming in to do the greenwood working which caters for complete beginners.

If you are a member of FLAME (the youth section of Land Workers Alliance) then you can come for free! If not, then there are subsidised places of £150 for the mixed camp, including all meals and materials. The women’s camp in September is £250, with a few concessions available.
